I’ve had 4 abortions. The abortion pill was the worst. Women need the full story

be

I've had four abortions in my life. I had my first abortion when I was 15 years old. Because my first abortion was traumatic, I used abortion pills for my second abortion when I was 19 years old. I thought the pill would be easier, less stressful on the body, and cheaper than undergoing surgical treatment. The baby's father was against the idea and wouldn't pay for it, so it seemed like a better option overall.

But that wasn't the case. It was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life. At the abortion clinic, I was told it was no big deal, simple and private. I was in my first trimester and I don't remember how far along I was. I think it was probably near the end of her first 12 weeks. Because I tended to do things at the last moment. The clinic didn't even do an ultrasound, just a urine test to prove the pregnancy.

The protocol at the time was to take the first pill, Mifepristone, at the clinic, then go home and insert the second pill, Misoprostol, into the vagina. That's what I did.

The bleeding and pain started immediately and it was intense. The pain lasted for two days and felt like full-blown labor was starting. I was alone in one of the bathrooms of my apartment. I was taking medication just to relieve the pain. And in the end, I couldn't bear to stay in the apartment any longer and relive the trauma every time I used the bathroom, so I finally broke my lease and moved out.

A few years later, after another abortion, I ended up working at the same clinic where I had my abortion with abortion pills. I had to tell women the same thing they were told when they asked for abortion pills. I mean, it's like a heavy period, no big deal. However, I received many calls from women who were experiencing the same severe pain that I experienced many years ago and felt cheated by the clinic. Why didn't anyone tell them it would be this bad? Why did they almost die? were they dead?

Since then, I have left the abortion industry and a life of drug addiction, and now work to remove workers from the abortion industry, testifying before committees and organizations, and telling my story. There are some major gaps in the public fight over access to abortion pills. Abortion pills are apparently the drug that non-pregnant women in the United States have been stocking up on for the past 18 months.

Informed consent is a hidden loophole. No one thinks informed consent is a bad thing, but the pro-abortion argument against informed consent ends up saying that women are not given all the information they need to be given about abortion and the use of abortion pills. It boils down to a terrible view that cannot be understood. So there's no reason to bog them down with too much information about the potential risks and harms that could be done. But the same woman considering a hysterectomy, tonsillectomy, or other surgery will likely have a lengthy discussion about possible side effects and negative effects.

The reality is that women can certainly make informed decisions if they have all the information in a way that they can understand. For example, studies showing the effectiveness of abortion pills. 4 times more dangerous As an abortion surgery in the early stages of pregnancy. But abortion clinics and abortion pill manufacturers don't want to take advantage of that opportunity because the decisions women make may not be in the clinic's or drug's financial interests.

Another big piece missing from this conversation is the reality of abortion pills and side effects. Women looking for real stories need to sort through the #shoutyourabortion nonsense and find women telling their own stories about the reality of abortion pills.

I would not wish my abortion experience on anyone, especially the abortion pill. It felt like I was walking through hell.

Women don't have that qualification.
