John Daly has certainly lived an interesting life on and off the course.
The two major winners reflected his long career when he showed pictures of his rookie tour cards from 1992 ahead of the Galleri Classic earlier this week.
“I didn't think I was here for 30 years,” Daly said in a video shared by the PGA Tour Champions. “I have only died 11 times. I'm like Lazarus. I'm back from death.
“That's when I can actually play the game.”
He commented on his health about two months after undergoing emergency surgery with his hands.
He shared a post from hospital bed in January, adding that the surgery was successful and “I'll play soon!”
He returned this month in time for the Hoag Classic on his Champions Tour in California.
“It was a bit cruel, but my hands were about 80%,” he said in the video. via ESPN. Daly revealed that he had undergone 16 surgeries over the past four years due to his intertwined tendons.
With the recent advent of podcasts, Daly also opened up about being diagnosed with bladder cancer.
“It was scary,” he said during his appearance. “Like a farmer podcast.”
“I was peeing blood… I thought my back was killing me, and I didn't know.
He underwent surgery and is in remission for four years.
Despite all his health retreat, Daly had a positive message about life for his younger self when looking back at his newcomer photos.
“Hey, a wonderful life.”
