‘I’ve Said to Everyone’ Hold Off on Biden Decisions Until After NATO Summit

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Wednesday that she has told her colleagues to postpone any decision to endorse President-elect Joe Biden’s candidacy until after this week’s NATO summit in Washington, D.C.

Co-host Jonathan Lemire asked, “So Mr. Chairman, you just talked about the president’s record, but I want to ask you where we stand: Do you support him being the leader of the Democratic Party?”

“It’s up to the president whether he runs or not. Time is running out and we’re all urging the president to make a decision. The overwhelming support of the caucus is not for me to say anything about. I no longer represent the caucus, but the president is loved and respected and people want him to make a decision,” Pelosi said.

“He says he’s made his decision. He made it very clear this week that he’s going to run. Do you want him to run?” Lemire said.

“I want him to do whatever he decides to do. That’s the way it is. Whatever he decides, we’ll follow it. I think this is really important and I hope everybody will be on board. Let’s leave it to him to manage this NATO meeting. This is very important. Over 30 heads of state are here. He is the host, and that doesn’t just mean hosting, it means convening the discussion, setting the agenda. And he’s doing a great job of that. And I’ve told everybody to hold back whatever you’re thinking. You don’t have to bring it up until you’ve told somebody privately or you see how this week unfolds. But I’m very proud of the president,” she said.
