As much as he is trying to do, he can't help but think about what next week has for him.
A few days of the 29-year-old's powerful camp have mostly locked in the work of a backup catcher, even if the decision hasn't been official yet.
“I'm trying to catch myself,” Eskara said at Bay Care Ballpark Wednesday before the Yankees beat the Phillies 9-7. “It's clearly not happening yet, but it's a surreal moment. I don't know what it's like to be playing at Yankee Stadium in the first game or on the line singing anthem on the first day. I dream of it since I was a kid.
