J.D. Vance says Trump hasn’t mentioned possible VP role to him

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) has indicated that former President Trump is his running mate for president, despite speculation in recent months that he is one of the candidates. He said he had not.

“I haven’t actually talked to the president about the vice presidential speculation. My simple answer is I want to help him in any way I can,” Vance told Fox News’ Laura Igraham on Thursday. “If he asked me, of course I would seriously consider it. It would be a great honor.”

“Also, I would be happy to support your agenda in the United States Senate, but in any case, Laura, remember, my job is to serve the people of Ohio. “Whether it’s supporting policy or playing some other role,” he continued.

Republican presidential nominee Trump has yet to announce a vice president, but Vance has solidified his position as one of Trump’s top supporters and is said to be on the former president’s list of potential running mates. It has been reported.

The Ohio senator said Thursday that regardless of whether he receives the nomination, he will promote manufacturing job growth and “rich prosperity for the people of Ohio and our core region.”

Mr. Vance grew up in a middle-class community in Ohio that once had many manufacturing jobs, became a corporate venture capitalist and made a name for himself with his best-selling book “Hillbilly Elegy.”

Vance said during the 2016 campaign that he was “definitely not Trump,” but since taking office last year he has become one of the former president’s strongest supporters.

“For 40 years, we had a bipartisan agreement that would send jobs overseas and result in unchecked migration. Trump stopped that,” he said. “And the real question for Republicans is: do we follow their lead and build on the policies that won them victories, or do we try to go back to the old ways?

“Unfortunately, Laura, as you and I both know, the Old Guard, key elements of the Republican Party, have gone back to their old ways, increasing immigration, fighting more wars, and lowering wages for American workers. ”’ Vance continued. “It’s a blessing that Trump is there to fight back.”

Several other candidates are rumored to be on President Trump’s shortlist, including Sen. Tim Scott (RS.C.) and Rep. Elise Stefanik (RN.Y.).
