A new name has been added to the conversation about the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Odds to bet on JJ McCarthy being the second pick in next month’s draft, some NFL team executives say the Commanders could take the Michigan quarterback with that pick at the league’s annual meeting After I theorized that there was a sexual problem, things improved dramatically.
McCarthy rose to +2,500 at BetMGM Sportsbook on Monday, but plummeted to +350 as of Tuesday evening, the third-best odds on the board.
This puts him behind LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels (-135) and North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye (+170).
Washington is in the market for a new quarterback, and both players were clear favorites to finish in the top three before McCarthy entered the game late.
Even if Daniels and Maye are selected second and third, there is a strong momentum for McCarthy to be selected immediately in any order.
He currently has the second-best odds to finish No. 4 (+220) and the third-best odds to go No. 5 (+350).
Despite the latest rumors, the Vikings, who own the No. 11 pick in the first round, appear to be the team most likely to select McCarthy at -125 odds.
McCarthy, 21, won a national championship with the Wolverines and previously had contracts with the Giants, Broncos, Seahawks and Patriots.

New Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh, who left Michigan State for the NFL after the college football season, praised McCarthy, calling him “the best quarterback in this draft.”
Who will be the No. 2 pick is still up in the air, but oddsmakers have no doubt who will be the No. 1 overall pick.
USC quarterback Caleb Williams is a -10,000 favorite to be selected first. The Chicago Bears own the No. 1 pick.
