New parents JJ McCarthy and Katya Kuropas are settling into their life as a family of three.

Just a day after announcing the birth of their son, Roma Mica McCarthy, the Vikings quarterback shared a photo on Instagram featuring their furry companions, Marley and Rocky. It seems they’re adjusting well to their new role as big brothers.

The caption on the Saturday post read, “Marley, Rocky, Roma… it works! I think we’ll protect him.”

Kuropas shared the exciting news of Roma’s arrival on Friday, only four days after McCarthy’s impressive comeback victory over the Bears in his first start in the NFL.

In her Instagram announcement, Kuropas expressed her joy, saying, “Welcome to the World Rome Mica McCarthy! The sweetest and most perfect gift from God!! We feel incredibly blessed to be your parents.”

McCarthy and Kuropas had shared their excitement about starting a family back in May, having been together since early 2024.

McCarthy, who was the 10th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, missed his rookie season due to a knee injury.

This past season, the Vikings finished with a stellar 14-3 record, significantly aided by the addition of Sam Darnold.

McCarthy finally made his much-anticipated debut on Monday night.

During the game, he threw for two touchdowns and had one interception, also scoring on the ground.

Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell mentioned that McCarthy appeared calm right from the beginning, even sharing his encouragement during halftime.

“There’s a lot of trust and compliments that give me the confidence to make quick decisions out there,” McCarthy noted, reflecting on the supportive atmosphere.

The Vikings are set to face the Falcons this week on Sunday Night Football.
