Ja Morant injury: Grizzlies star out for season with labrum tear

Ja Morant is out for the season with a torn labrum in his right shoulder. Memphis Grizzlies announced. Morant was injured Saturday during practice after the Grizzlies won on the road. Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night.

Morant suffered a subluxation of his right shoulder during Saturday's training. Her pain continued until an MRI revealed a torn labrum.

Morant was suspended for the first 25 games of the season. The Grizzlies are one of the worst teams in the NBA without him (Memphis is also without big men Steven Adams and Brandon Clark all season). The Grizzlies are 6-3 in nine games since Morant returned from suspension. The All-Star guard was averaging 25.1 points, 8.1 assists and 5.6 rebounds per game this year before suffering a season-ending injury.

The Grizzlies were 13-23 overall this season at the time of Morant's injury. If the season ended today, Memphis would have the No. 6 odds heading into the 2024 NBA Draft lottery.
