Jack Avery has been granted temporary sole legal and physical custody of his daughter following the arrest of his ex, Gabby Gonzalez, related to a murder-for-hire scheme targeting him. This information comes from court documents accessed by the California Post.
A judge from the Los Angeles Superior Court also issued a temporary restraining order against Gonzalez, who is 24, prohibiting her from seeing their daughter, Lavender, who is 7, while the legal matters are underway.
In addition, authorities took Gonzalez’s father, lawyer Francisco Gonzalez from Florida, and Kai Corddry into custody on conspiracy charges.
Avery made a public statement addressing the conspiracy claims. He mentioned, “Recently, three individuals were arrested on suspicions of plotting to take my life,” adding that one of them was the mother of his daughter.
He expressed that his family had faced considerable public scrutiny and “painful attacks” over the years, noting that Gonzalez chose to remain silent out of respect for the legal proceedings and for their daughter.
“My focus right now is on being the best father I can,” he stated, feeling grateful to have custody of his beloved daughter, Lavender. He expressed hopes for building a peaceful life for her.
Avery thanked his family, friends, law enforcement, and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for their support during this challenging time. He concluded by appreciating those who withheld judgment until the truth became evident, encouraging the pursuit of truth.
This public statement came shortly after Gabby, Francisco, and Corddry were arrested on May 18 amid an ongoing custody dispute concerning Lavender.
Authorities believe the conspiracy originated in 2021, involving attempts to monitor Avery during his stay in Hawaii. Investigators allege that members of Gonzalez’s family sought photos and videos of the singer that could tarnish Gonzalez’s credibility in custody proceedings.
According to reports, federal agents, acting on information from Corddry, pretended to be a hitman and participated in a phone call with Francisco discussing payment and potential targets.
Legal documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court reveal that Avery filed a domestic violence restraining order against Gabby, asserting claims about her mental instability and abusive behavior, which had even occurred in the presence of their child. Avery argued this emergency request was necessary due to Gabby’s arrest and the ongoing safety concerns.
He also disclosed that after Gonzalez’s arrest, Lavender was temporarily placed in foster care until Avery could pick her up.
