Jack Schlossberg Acknowledges Trump’s Influence on National Discourse
Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of former President John F. Kennedy, revealed that President Trump frequently occupies his thoughts, even commending his “genius.” This unexpected admiration came as Schlossberg discussed his own campaign for New York’s 12th Congressional District seat, previously held by Rep. Jerrold Nadler.
“I don’t look up to President Trump for anything, but I can’t help but respect the way he manages to shape discussions every day,” Schlossberg shared during an interview with CBS New York’s Marcia Kramer. When prompted to compare his social media strategies to Trump’s, he made his position clear. “He has this incredible ability to put thoughts in our heads. We end up repeating his phrases constantly.”
Interestingly, the 33-year-old suggested that Democrats might benefit from adopting some of Trump’s tactics to better influence the national dialogue and narrative. “Using humor and intelligence is key. We shouldn’t shy away from taking risks,” he advised.
He went on to emphasize the importance of assertive communication, stating, “That’s how you exercise power now. Ignoring this shift isn’t really an option.”
Further into the conversation, Schlossberg articulated that the power of authenticity could be a major asset for the Democratic Party. “Being genuine, allowing people to see who you really are—that’s essential,” he insisted. He contrasted his approach with that of his opponents, who he claims encourage people to overlook their actions. “I want transparency. Look at what I’m doing—I’m proud of my efforts and I’m investing all my time into this,” he stated.
As the son of former U.S. Ambassador Caroline Kennedy, Schlossberg is navigating a competitive race, aiming to secure a congressional seat after Nadler’s retirement announcement. However, his campaign has not been without controversy. Critiques have surfaced suggesting a lack of organizational efficiency. A recent profile in the New York Times raised questions about his candidacy, indicating issues like his tendency to miss critical meetings for rest and erratic behavior during the campaign lead-up. These revelations have raised eyebrows among potential supporters.
