Jacob Misiorowski’s MLB Debut

Jacob Misiorowski, the young right-handed pitcher, made quite a splash in his Major League Baseball debut on Thursday night.

With a fastball hitting 103 mph, he started the game for the Milwaukee Brewers and dominated the St. Louis Cardinals for five full innings, allowing no hits, although he did walk four batters.

However, his outing took an unexpected turn. In the sixth inning, after throwing a third ball to Victor Scott, Misiorowski’s leg awkwardly landed in front of the mound, prompting the Brewers’ medical team to check on him. Unfortunately, he had to exit the game, and Nick Mears came in from the bullpen.

The team later reported that he experienced convulsions in his right calf and quadriceps. Misiorowski shared his disappointment, saying, “Of course I don’t want to leave that way. I think I could have continued, but I had convulsions. Things happen.”

Interestingly, he was unaware that he hadn’t recorded a hit until that moment, saying, “I thought one of the pop-ups had landed.”

Milwaukee’s manager, Pat Murphy, mentioned that Misiorowski might have also twisted his ankle, but assured everyone, “It’s all good.” He praised the pitcher, noting, “He was impressive in every way you see it. I think he was very nervous before the game. I’d expect that, but I think he handled it really, really well.”

In fact, Misiorowski threw 100 mph on each of his first three pitches, and 11 out of his initial 24 pitches reached triple digits. Remarkably, his fastest pitch clocked in at 102.2 mph, marking the quickest pitch by a Brewers starter since pitch tracking began in 2008.

Despite the challenging end to his debut, Milwaukee triumphed in the game, winning 6-0 against their NL Central rivals. Though they sit within half a game of each other, the Chicago Cubs currently maintain a more comfortable 5.5-game lead in the standings.
