Jada Pinkett Smith Sued Over Alleged Threats

Jada Pinkett Smith is facing a lawsuit from Bilal Salam, a longtime associate of her husband Will Smith, who is alleging that she threatened him during an encounter at a movie theater in Calabasas. Documents reveal that Salam is seeking $3 million for intentional infliction of emotional distress.

According to the lawsuit, during a private event for Will’s birthday in September 2021, Jada reportedly approached Salam with a group of about seven people. She allegedly made physical threats towards him, insisting that if he didn’t refrain from discussing personal matters, he could end up “missing or getting shot.” Furthermore, she demanded he sign a non-disclosure agreement.

The complaint details that after this confrontation, one of Jada’s associates followed Salam to his car, continuing to make threatening remarks.

Fast forward several months, and Salam claims that Duane Martin, an actor and friend of the couple, reached out to him for crisis management support in light of the fallout from the March 2022 Oscars incident where Will slapped comedian Chris Rock after a joke about Jada.

Salaam expressed his reluctance to participate in any cover-up or unethical public relations efforts, making it clear he wouldn’t engage in anything he felt was illegal or morally questionable.

Martin has been linked to the couple for years and has worked closely with them. He last appeared publicly with Jada in April 2021.

Jada addressed the situation on “The Breakfast Club,” where she allegedly suggested that Salam was trying to perform a “financial run” and hinted at extortion, which is now being contested in the lawsuit.

Salaam asserts he has experienced significant harm stemming from these interactions, claiming damages that include financial loss, damage to his reputation, psychological distress, and a downward spiral in his personal and professional life.

The case appears to have far-reaching implications, both for Jada and Salam, as it intertwines personal grievances with public relations challenges stemming from the high-profile events of the past few years. As of now, Jada Pinkett Smith’s representatives have not responded to requests for comment regarding the lawsuit.
