Gen Z Rejects Left-Wing Agenda | Cain Country
Conservative influencers Jackson Gosnell and Brillin Horice joined Cain to discuss the need for responsible self-defense following a tragic shooting in New York City, as well as the controversy surrounding Sydney Sweeney’s American Eagle advertisement.
Singer Jade Thirlwall recently took aim at Matty Healy, the lead singer of The 1975, criticizing his reluctance to engage in politics. In an interview, she expressed her disappointment, saying that such a stance can feel a bit privileged. “It’s easier to say when you’re coming from a place of comfort,” she remarked.
Healy has stated that he prefers to keep politics out of his music. At a recent Glastonbury festival performance, he mentioned how some fans might miss political commentary in their shows, but he insisted it was an intentional choice. He wants his band’s legacy to be tied to love and friendship rather than politics. Yet, perhaps somewhat ironically, during the set, they performed a politically charged song, complete with visuals that featured images of Donald Trump and other significant figures.
In past years, Healy has stirred controversy. For instance, in 2023, he kissed band guitarist Ross McDonald on stage in Malaysia as a protest against the country’s anti-LGBTQ laws, leading to a ban on the band’s performances there. When Trump won the election in 2016, Healy reportedly felt defeated, saying that he cried as a response to the results.
A spokesperson for Healy did not immediately respond to requests for further comment.
