Jadeveon Clowney’s $750,000 sack led to joyous celebration

Saturday's rainy game meant little to the Baltimore Ravens, who had already clinched the AFC's top seed, but it meant a lot to Ravens edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney.

$450,000, to be exact.

To increase his bonus from $1 million to $1.75 million, Clowney needed just zero sacks in the regular season finale to reach his ninth of the season.

Instead, he finished the season with a full sack and 9.5 points, and now he's even richer.

Clowney's one-year contract with the Ravens promises him $2.5 million, with a potential bonus of $1 million for seven sacks and $1.75 million for nine sacks.

It's common for teams to add incentives to contracts, but many goals are written in a way that makes them nearly impossible to achieve.

The former No. 1 overall pick had not reached nine sacks since 2021. He only had two sacks last year while playing in Cleveland.

The Ravens may not have expected him to reach the bonus either.

But with less than a minute left in the second quarter of the Steelers' 17-10 win, Clowney fired Pittsburgh quarterback Mason Rudolph for a whopping $750,000.

And he celebrated accordingly.

With his money bag in hand, Clowney sang and danced in the rain, showing off his excitement with his teammates, who high-fived him and laughed.

The crowd also heard the news and joined in the festivities.

As for the Steelers, the win kept their playoff hopes alive, but they lost star linebacker TJ Watt late in the game, leaving with a knee injury.

Watt rolled out for a pass from Baltimore quarterback Tyler Huntley in the third quarter, but was knocked down by Steelers tackle Montravius Adams.

Adams' force slammed him into Watt's left knee.

After being examined in the medical tent, Watt was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Without Watt, the Steelers have three paths to the playoffs.

If the Jaguars lose or tie the Titans, or the Bills lose to the Dolphins, they advance. He will also qualify if Saturday night's game between the Colts and Texans ends in a tie.
