The Jaguars are also currently looking for a new general manager.
Owner Shad Khan announced Wednesday that the team has fired Trent Baalke while the team searches for a coach.
“After several discussions with Trent Baalke this week, we have both come to the conclusion that it is in our mutual interest to respectfully separate immediately,” Khan said in a statement. “Trent would like to express our deep appreciation for his efforts over the past five seasons.
“I am deeply committed to developing winners here in Jacksonville, and I look forward to introducing a new head coach who will do that for our players and our fans.”
Ethan Waugh will serve as the team's interim general manager and conduct coaching interviews as the Jaguars search for a replacement for fired Doug Peterson at the end of the 2024 season.
The team's hiring process took an unexpected turn early in the day. Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Cohen, considered the top candidate for the job, has ruled out a return to Tampa Bay for what would have been a huge contract.

Now the team is back to square one on two fronts.
