Jaguar's Sales Plummet Following Unusual Non-Binary Rebranding

Jaguar’s Sales Drop in Europe

Jaguar’s sales in Europe have taken a significant hit, with only 49 vehicles registered in April 2025. This represents a staggering decline of 97.5% compared to the 1,961 units sold in the same month last year.

Overall, the brand has experienced a 75.1% decrease in sales, totaling just 2,665 units from January to April 2025. This has resulted in a market share of merely 0.1% in both Australia and the UK, plummeting from previous figures of 180,833 units to 26,862 units in 2018.

This downward trend comes after Jaguar’s bold rebranding initiative announced in November 2024. The company unveiled a new logo and marketing strategy that notably avoids traditional car imagery in favor of showcasing models in vibrant outfits. Their advertising slogans, “No Copy” and “Live Vivid,” aim to position Jaguar as a modern and all-encompassing brand.

However, critics have chastised the brand for straying from its performance-oriented roots, suggesting it’s catering to a trend they see as “woke.” Notably, Elon Musk has even weighed in, echoing concerns from some quarters about whether Jaguar still resonates with classic car enthusiasts.

In the first quarter of 2025, Jaguar’s rivals like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi faced their own challenges in the European market but managed to keep their competitive edge. BMW reported a 32.4% increase in sales for full electric vehicles compared to the same time last year, though total sales for the 3 Series dropped by 9%.

Mercedes-Benz saw a 10% decline in electric vehicle sales, totaling 45,500 units, as well as a 7% decrease in overall vehicle sales. On the other hand, Audi’s deliveries dipped slightly by 0.7%, but their electric vehicle sales soared by 50.4% year over year.

Jaguar has not yet responded to inquiries about their drastic sales decline.
