The Jacksonville Jaguars lost to the Cleveland Browns 13-18, dropping them to 0-2 on the season.
Trevor Lawrence completed 14 of 30 passes for 220 yards and a key safety with 1 minute, 44 seconds left in the game. He did not throw a touchdown pass, but Jacksonville's lone touchdown came on a 4-yard run by running back Travis Etienne Jr. in the third quarter.

Lawrence, who signed a $275 million contract extension in the offseason, was outspoken about the team's performance.
“Right now, I'm pretty devastated because our team sucks,” Lawrence said. “Obviously, we had a great offseason and a great training camp, so we've got to do something. We have a great team and great players and a pretty good offense, but obviously that's not the case. Everybody has to take responsibility and look at themselves and correct it. I've got to play better. I'm the leader of this offense. The responsibility is on me. The wide receivers have to play better, the line has to play better, the running backs have to play better, the coaches have to play better.”
“Honestly, it's everybody's fault, but we're just sitting there and we have to take the lead. We're waiting for somebody to make a play. Our defense has been awful the last two weeks. If a team doesn't score 20-plus points, we should be winning every week. We didn't finish the game in the red zone today. We made too many mistakes, we didn't get in and out of the huddle well, we didn't communicate well. There's a lot of stuff. Fortunately or unfortunately, a lot of it is in our control, which is why we're pissed after the game. We can control it, but we just didn't do it right.”

“Until we get it right, it's a different story. We know what we have to work on, we have to find our rhythm offensively. There are just too many good players out there to really put in a performance like that the last two weeks.”
Jacksonville was narrowly defeated by the Miami Dolphins last week, scoring just 17 points.
The Jaguars have not scored 30 or more points since Dec. 4, 2023 against the Cincinnati Bengals. The team has not scored 20 or more points since Dec. 31 against the Carolina Panthers.
“I mean, that's not who we are,” Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said. “Our teammates, our coaches, our players, they work too hard during the week.”

“Look, that's good defense. Really good defense. Probably one of the best in the league. If there's a standard, we didn't meet it today. That's something to reflect on. I think we have too much talent. The signs are there, but we just don't have enough consistency.”
