Boxer and YouTube personality Jake Paul has hit back at rumors that his bout with heavyweight champion Mike Tyson was somehow rigged, calling the claims “illogical and insane.”
Paul, 28, faced 58-year-old Tyson in the ring last week, with Paul winning by unanimous decision with scores of 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73. With this loss, Tyson improved to 50 wins and 7 losses, while Paul improved to 11 wins and 1 loss.
However, after the fight, rumors began to spread on social media that Tyson threw the fight and that it was all a match fix.
In response to the rumors, Paul's Most Valuable Promotions released a full statement denouncing the claims and insisting that the entire event was conducted in “good faith.” fox news I will report it.
“Match-fixing of professional boxing matches is a federal crime in the United States,” Paul's company said in a statement Monday. “Paul vs. Tyson was a professional bout sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). Both fighters acted in good faith and to the best of their abilities with the goal of winning the bout.
“There were absolutely no restrictions, contractual or otherwise, regarding either fighter. Each boxer was able to use his entire arsenal to win the bout. Any agreement to the contrary This would be a violation of TDLR boxing rules.”
A subsequent statement addressed this claim head-on.
“It's even more illogical and insane that MVP would do this in the debut of a promising long-term partnership with the world's largest streamer, the organization that made its first foray into live professional sports with Paul vs. Tyson. ” Consider this perverse violation of competition rules. ”
Paul's MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidalian also denied this rumor.
