Jake Paul defeats Mike Perry by TKO, Mike Tyson fight ‘absolutely happening’

TAMPA – Jake Paul has the boxing world under his control.

Paul (10-1) was dominant against Mike Perry on Saturday night in front of a packed, enthusiastic crowd at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.

“Problem Child” knocked Perry down in the first and second rounds before finally landing the killer blow in the sixth to give boxing’s rising sensation a TKO victory.

Paul landed a series of lead hand jabs on Perry, preventing him from exerting his usual forward pressure.

When Perry went down in the sixth round, the referee quickly called the bout an end and the crowd erupted in hysterics.

Paul outshot Perry 98-33, with 52 of those shots coming from jabs that were particularly tough for Paul to counter.

“He’s tough as hell,” Paul said after the fight, referring to Perry’s toughness after he was knocked down hard by a one-two combination. “Mike Tyson, you’re next.”

Perry expressed disappointment in the loss at the post-match press conference, telling reporters, “I thought I could do better in this match.”

“You were too fast for me, and I couldn’t adjust to that,” Perry said in the ring after the fight.

Perry told reporters that Paul was “a lot faster” and that the two had sparred before.

Now, the boxing world is turning its attention to a mega fight with 58-year-old Mike Tyson.

The fight is scheduled to take place at AT&T Stadium in Dallas on November 15, and after the game Paul said, “It’s absolutely going to happen.”

Meanwhile, Paul said Tyson has resumed training for his boxing comeback, which was initially postponed after an ulcer recurred while on a flight in late May.

While celebrating his win, Paul also called out former UFC light heavyweight champion and decorated kickboxer Alex Pereira.

Pereira has long expressed an interest in the boxing world, with Paul being one of the sport’s biggest attractions.

Most Valuable Promotions told reporters that while big boxing events like Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia haven’t sold out, Paul’s ability to draw crowds is growing day by day.
