Jake Paul-Mike Tyson fight mocked by ‘SNL’ after Netflix borefest

Criticism of the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul match came from all quarters.

Saturday Night Live's Michael Che and Colin Jost revealed in a skit on “Weekend Update” that Paul won by unanimous decision in their highly anticipated match at AT&T Stadium on Friday night. ) made fun of.

“Last night, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson teamed up and beat everyone watching,” Jost said.

Tyson, now 58, competed in his first officially sanctioned professional bout in 19 years, but he was unable to turn back time against the 27-year-old YouTuber turned boxer.

Tyson hardly threw any punches after the first round. Paul threw 278 punches and landed 78 of them, while Tyson threw 97 punches and landed only 18.

By the end of the match, which aired on Netflix, fans were booing both fighters for the lack of action.

Still, it was a massive box office hit for Netflix.

The company announced that 60 million users watched during the main event.

Gates (money earned from ticket sales) exceeded $17.8 million and 72,300 people attended, making it the largest boxing gate outside of Las Vegas in U.S. history.

Tyson later revealed that he “almost died” before the fight.

“This is one of those situations where you lose and still win,” Tyson, 58, said. I wrote to X. “Thank you for last night. I have no regrets about stepping into the ring one last time. I almost died in June. I had eight blood transfusions. I lost half my blood and 25 pounds in the hospital and fought. I won because I had to fight to get healthy.

“Having my kids watch me stand toe-to-toe in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy Stadium and go through eight rounds with a talented fighter half my age is the right anyone could want. It's an experience like no other.
