Jake Paul stands up for Tyson fight, walks out of intense Piers Morgan interview

Jake Paul Faces Criticism Ahead of Upcoming Fight

Jake Paul is set to return to the ring this weekend, following his notable victory against boxing legend Mike Tyson last November. However, he continues to face backlash regarding his choice of opponents.

This criticism resurfaced during Paul’s appearance on “Piers Morgan’s Uncensored” show, where Morgan expressed doubt about the legitimacy of Paul’s boxing match against Tyson, who is now 58 and labeled an “illness” during his previous career.

“It’s just entertainment, man. If Mike Tyson wants to fight, of course you’d say yes,” Paul stated while promoting his upcoming match against former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Paul emphasized that the fight was lucrative, explaining, “He left for tens of millions to support his family. We had the biggest fight ever; 188 million people watched it, so it’s not a surprise.” While Morgan acknowledged Paul’s business acumen, he questioned the integrity of his career choices, specifically fighting older opponents.

“As a businessman, you’re fantastic. You made substantial profits when you faced Mike Tyson. Kudos on that,” Morgan remarked.

Paul responded by defending himself and insisting that he had attempted to secure a match with Canelo Alvarez, the current undisputed super middleweight champion, but without any success.

“I don’t quite get what everyone wants from me. I tried to fight Canelo, but he didn’t want any of it. You say he’d defeat me, but what more do people want?” Paul argued.

The topic grew tense when Morgan suggested that Paul hadn’t truly survived the fight with Tyson, leading Paul to criticize the host personally. “And you’re not even hitting the gym; you’re still out of shape,” Paul replied, indicating his frustration. “It feels like you think your opinion actually matters,” he added, although Morgan interrupted to challenge why Paul was there in the first place.

“I’m here to reach your audience for pay-per-view sales. I don’t care about your show,” Paul asserted boldly before gearing up for his fight against 39-year-old Chavez in Anaheim, California.

Chavez hasn’t fought since 2021 and has been out of title contention for over a decade.
