National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan recently claimed that the United States is “safer” and “better off” than it was under President Donald Trump.

Sullivan's comments came in the context of global standing and security relative to America's adversaries, arguing that Russia, China and Iran are all “weaker” under President Joe Biden's leadership.
“Our alliance is stronger than when it was founded four years ago,” Sullivan said in his State of the Union address on Tuesday. CNN. “They are stronger than they have been in decades. NATO is stronger, purposeful and bigger. Our partnerships in the Asia-Pacific region are at an all-time high. Our enemies and competitors are weaker across the board. Russia is weaker, Iran is weaker, China is weaker, and all the while we have kept America out of war.”
“I think Americans are safer and our country is better off than we were four years ago. We're passing that on to the next team, and we're firing on the engine of American power. Our economy, our technology, our defense. The industrial base, the supply chain. So the United States is in a stronger and more secure position, and our competitors and adversaries are weaker and under pressure,” he continued.
Despite Sullivan's claims, the United States is currently fighting two proxy wars in Ukraine and Israel, both of which President-elect Trump said “would never have happened” on his watch.
Sullivan went on to praise Biden for withdrawing U.S. troops from Afghanistan, even though 13 service members lost their lives in a failed withdrawal in 2021.
“Looking back over the last three years, history has judged President Biden's strategic decisions correctly and will continue to judge them correctly,” Sullivan said.
“If we were still in Afghanistan today, Russia would have more influence over us in terms of Americans would be fighting and dying. “The ability to respond to the major strategic challenges facing the world will be diminished,” he continued.
“While the investigation continues, we do not see any connection between Afghanistan and the New Orleans attackers,” Sullivan said, referring to the New Year's Day terrorist attack on Bourbon Street.
“Right now, the FBI continues to look for foreign connections, and maybe they'll find them, but what we've seen is evidence of President Biden's statements that the threat of terrorism is becoming more diffuse and domestic extremism is becoming more widespread.” It is said that it has further metastasized to other places including the sect. Here in the United States, not only under President Biden, but also under President Trump's first term, unless it shifts focus from the hot war in Afghanistan to larger-scale counterterrorism efforts around the world. That's part of the reason why it didn't happen,” he said. Added.
Meanwhile, President Trump previously vowed to end the war in Ukraine within “24 hours” of the end of his second term.
“The Russians are dying, the Ukrainians are dying. I want them to stop dying. And I'll get it done, I'll get it done in 24 hours,” Trump said. “If we had a real president, if we had a president who knew that, respected by President Putin…he would never have invaded Ukraine.”
The Biden administration has provided more than $65 billion in aid to Ukraine since the outbreak of war in February 2022.
