Jalen Brunson steadily worked towards helping the Knicks secure an unexpected Game 4 victory

Brunson Leads Knicks to Victory

Refusing to let the game slip from their grasp, Jalen Brunson fought back even as the Knicks found themselves down by nearly 30 points.

Through sheer determination, Brunson orchestrated a comeback, ultimately guiding the Knicks to a thrilling 107-106 win over the Spurs in Game 4 at The Garden. With this victory, they are now just one win away from clinching their first championship in 53 years.

After the tough loss preceding this game, Brunson reflected, saying, “At that point, there wasn’t much to say. It was a moment to focus on taking little steps forward—we need to hit singles and make plays from there.”

While the spotlight eventually fell on OG Anunoby, who scored the game-winner following Brunson’s missed three-pointer with just 1.2 seconds remaining, Brunson’s contribution was undeniable.

Despite struggling in the initial games of the series with inefficiencies and turnovers, he turned it around, scoring 36 points—hitting 12 of 25 shots from the field.

Brunson played intensely, remaining on the court for almost all of the last 35 minutes. In the second half alone, he put up 17 points, helping his team rally from a 29-point deficit.

Beyond scoring, he tallied seven assists, five rebounds, and three steals. Coach Mike Brown commented, “Jalen, he’s an MVP candidate. Every game I say it. He fulfills what an MVP is meant to do, and he showed that tonight.”

Interestingly, Brunson, post-game, chose to center the discussion on his teammates, emphasizing collective effort over individual accolades. He wasn’t ready to celebrate just yet, reminding everyone that there’s still work to be done.

“In the next 48 hours, the focus needs to be on what’s required to win Game 5. There’s nothing to celebrate until it’s over,” he stated, marking his third 30-point game in the finals.
