Jalen Green Fined for On-Camera Profanity

Phoenix Suns guard Jalen Green had a moment of celebration with his teammate Collin Gillespie that ended up being quite costly.

After the Suns’ impressive 115-101 victory over the Washington Wizards on Monday night, Green was fined $25,000 for using profanity during Gillespie’s live postgame interview.

Throughout the game, Gillespie scored 25 points, contributing significantly to the team’s fifth win in their last six outings. While he was recognizing his teammates’ hard work during an on-court interview, Green and a few others interrupted to congratulate him.

It seems Green whispered something along the lines of “They have nothing to do with you” into Gillespie’s ear, but his comment was caught on the broadcast microphone. Gillespie’s reaction was priceless: “Oh my god, on live TV?”

After the interview, Green responded nonchalantly, saying, “I don’t care.”

The league didn’t share his carefree attitude. On Tuesday, NBA Executive Vice President James Jones announced the fine, stating it was for “using profanity while interrupting a teammate’s live television interview.”

Interestingly, Green didn’t participate in that game—he’s been struggling with a hamstring injury and has only played in two games this season after getting hurt during training camp.

It’s worth noting that Green played every regular-season game in the last two seasons and was involved in the trade that brought Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets.
