Jalen Hurts of the Eagles faces mockery for going to the Met Gala

Jalen Hurts, the star quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, faced backlash on social media after attending the Met Gala instead of the White House celebration following the team’s Super Bowl victory. His absence from the Eagles’ event with President Trump was confirmed by Fox News.

Hurts attended the gala with his wife, Bry Burrows, while other notable Eagles players, such as AJ Brown and Devonta Smith, also chose not to visit the White House.

Interestingly, teammate Saquon Barkley was present at the Met Gala as well. He, too, has received criticism for his social media interactions with Trump and has defended his decisions in the past. Barkley noted that perhaps showing respect for the office is important, despite the mixed reactions he garnered.

While opinions on Hurts’ absence vary—some criticize him, others support his choice—the ongoing discussion reflects the complicated relationship between sports figures and political events.
