Eagles’ Locker Room Dynamics Under Scrutiny Again

The vibe in the Eagles’ locker room is raising some eyebrows once more, amid a string of injuries they’ve faced early in the season.

Last year, there was this A.J. Brown situation that seemed to disrupt part of the offense. More recently, a viral exchange between Jalen Hurts and Devonta Smith last week sparked some concern.

This week, a hot mic incident caught Hurts calling out his receivers during their loss against the Rams on Sunday.

During the first quarter, Hurts was heard on the Fox broadcast shouting, “Get off the f–king ball! Come on!” directed at his receivers while at the line of scrimmage.

Notably, both Tom Brady and Kevin Burkhardt caught it and couldn’t overlook the moment.

“Uh oh,” Brady remarked.

“That’s not good,” Burkhardt added.

The Eagles initially led 20-10 at halftime but let it slip away, failing to score in the second half under the guidance of first-year coordinator Sean Mannion.

They didn’t convert a single third down during the second half and struggled overall on offense, with Hurts finishing the game throwing for just 93 yards—the first time he’s started and ended a game without breaking the 100-yard mark.

Meanwhile, the defense couldn’t hold onto their lead as the Rams came back to score 14 points in the fourth quarter.

After having previous wins against the Commanders and Titans, Philadelphia also squandered a first-half lead against the Bears in Week 3, facing off against third-string quarterback Case Keenum.

Now, with nine starters, including Saquon Barkley and Smith, sidelined by the end of the game, the Eagles sit at 2-2, ranking second in the NFC East behind the Giants (3-1).

Post-game, Hurts maintained his composed demeanor while addressing the media.

“I think it’s less about being even-keeled and more about doubling down on the work,” he said regarding the frustrations accompanying losses, the growing injury list, and the struggling offense. “Controlling the things that you can. This is a team that is building and finding its way. It’s obviously a work in progress.”

“I have the utmost confidence in this team. I have the utmost confidence in this group. We just have to [inaudible] endure. Be persistent, and keep committing to one another. Keep committing to the work of becoming a better group together.”

The Eagles are gearing up to head to London for a matchup against the Jaguars this Sunday.
