Jalin Hyatt feels let down by his last chance with the Giants, even after scoring a touchdown.

Jalin Hyatt didn’t quite bask in the glory of his touchdown.

He’s got to secure his spot as the No. 4 receiver on the Giants’ roster before the upcoming cut deadline. On Thursday, however, he showcased his impressive speed, catching a 27-yard touchdown pass from Jaymisu Winston during the first quarter of a 42-10 victory over the Patriots.

It was a significant moment for Hyatt, especially since he had two missed opportunities earlier in the game from Jaxson Dart. One pass deflected off his shoulder pad, and another slipped through his fingers as a defender made a play to break it up.

“It feels good [to score]… But I was disappointed with my performance,” said Hyatt, showing a hint of introspection. “Both were great passes. I just need to come down with them.”

He finished with 38 yards on six targets, signaling to the crowd as he left the end zone, marking this as a “Big Week” for a third-round pick in 2023.

“I just need to tidy up a few things,” he added. “I have to attack the ball and fully embrace what I can do.”

Other depth receivers in the mix include Gunner Orssuki, Bo Collins, and Montrell Washington, but Hyatt wants to stand out. He’s gone two regular seasons without scoring.

“The front office has a clear vision from the film,” Hyatt explained. “I know I let a few plays slip by, and while I think they see my potential, I need to be more consistent. That’s what matters most now.”

With Russell Wilson joining the ranks, there’s hope that Hyatt can become a key playmaker. Wilson observed that Hyatt might need just a few touches to really make an impact.

“I have high hopes for Jalin,” added Brown. “He’s obviously working hard, and I can see improvements in his physicality. His connection with Russ might just unlock new opportunities for him.”

Hyatt demonstrated his skills against the Patriots, who, quite frankly, had no answer for his speed.

“He knows the potential he has, and he’s eager to show it,” noted Brown. “There’s a sense of urgency with him to deliver on that promise.”

After some uncertainty regarding his future with the Giants last season, Hyatt seems resolved to turn things around this time.

However, with Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, and Wan’dale Robinson all healthy, the competition for snaps could be tight. “I’ve seen how my teammates have rallied around me during my injury,” he remarked, reflecting on the support he’s received.
