Jamie Lee Curtis Critiques Trump on Diversity
Actress Jamie Lee Curtis recently accused President Donald Trump of attempting to “erase” diversity from our language.
Speaking at the South by Southwest festival on Saturday, Curtis reflected on her long involvement with the Halloween horror film series, which began with the groundbreaking slasher movie in 1978. During her speech, she expressed her thoughts on Trump.
Regarding the film series, Curtis mentioned, “I’m glad more women are being recognized.” She continued, emphasizing that, “More people of color are being valued. More genders are being valued. The concepts of diversity and inclusion, which Trump seems to want to eliminate from our conversations, are, frankly, horrific. That’s a wonderful development.”
She commended Hollywood for its support of a “diverse” selection of horror films, including those that have been honored at this year’s Oscars. “Hollywood supports diversity, just as our Constitution should,” she stated.
Curtis also ventured into a discussion about the U.S. Constitution, attempting to connect its amendments to recent events in Iran. “It was designed to be flexible, not a rigid binary notion. It’s meant to evolve as society does. But our current mindset has become overly binary, and that interpretation has dragged us into new conflicts. It’s unfortunate,” the actress remarked.
In response, White House Press Secretary Davis Ingle commented that “No one in their right mind cares what Hollywood’s absurdly woke celebrities say or think,” as reported by Fox News.
Curtis has frequently voiced sharp criticisms of President Trump and the Republican Party. Last month, she labeled Trump a “disgrace,” alleging that he was using Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to distract from the Epstein scandal.
“The way this administration treats its citizens, its supporters, and those in need is inhumane. It’s appalling,” she exclaimed.
Following several Democratic victories in the previous November elections, Curtis described the outcomes as a “repudiation” of Trump and his party.
Curtis, a staunch advocate for transgender rights, openly supported both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the last presidential election.
