Jamie Lee Curtis Honors Charlie Kirk
Jamie Lee Curtis became emotional on Monday while paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, the conservative leader who was killed during a podcast appearance. Despite her frequent disagreements with Kirk’s political views, she expressed that grief should rise above party lines. This gesture was seen as particularly notable within Hollywood, where responses often align with political affiliations.
During an interview with Mark Maron on his “WTF” podcast, Curtis expressed her sorrow, saying, “Sorry, Kirk. I think I’m just calling him Christ, for Christ, for his deep beliefs.”
Curtis, a long-time voice for liberal ideals, acknowledged the significant opposition she felt toward Kirk’s beliefs but emphasized that compassion must take precedence. “I disagreed with him on almost every point I heard from him, but I believe he was a man of faith,” she noted. Although she found some of his ideas troubling, she respected him as a father, a husband, and a person grounded in faith, hoping that his connection with God brought him peace.
She also touched on a viral video of Kirk’s assassination, discussing the potential harm of such imagery. Curtis drew parallels, mentioning how society is often impacted by images, likening the footage of Kirk’s death to significant historical tragedies like the collapse of the World Trade Center and the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
“We’re paralyzed by them, but they’re there. We don’t know. We don’t know enough psychologically what it does. What does that do?” Curtis pondered, revealing that she chose not to watch the footage of Kirk’s death.
