A South Carolina woman accused of killing her bride on her wedding night while driving drunk has been released from prison just 10 months after the fatal drunk driving crash.
Judge Michael Nettles issued a motion Friday morning granting the release of Jamie Lee Komorowski, who was charged on Sept. 12, 2023, with felony counts of DUI resulting in serious bodily injury or death and reckless homicide.
On Friday afternoon, Komorowski was seen leaving the Sheriff’s Al Cannon Detention Center in North Charleston with his father after posting $150,000 bail.
She faced a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.
As part of the conditions of his release, Komorowski will be placed under house arrest in Charleston County and will only be allowed to leave his home in the event of a medical emergency or court order. The accused drunk driver must also wear a scram, a secure continuous remote alcohol monitoring device that continuously tests a person’s sweat for alcohol 24 hours a day.
Komorowski, 26, is also restricted from driving and has surrendered his passport.
Her attorney released the following statement: statement “We have consistently maintained that Jamie does not pose a flight risk or a danger to the community. She has now been released from pretrial detention and has demonstrated a continued commitment to rehabilitation. I look forward to the judge’s decision.”
Komorowski had been in prison since the fatal drunk driving accident that claimed his bride’s life on April 28, 2023, on her wedding day.
Shortly after a wedding in Folly Beach, South Carolina, Komorowski was driving a Toyota Camry when he crashed into a golf cart carrying Samantha Miller, 34, and Aric Hutchinson, 36.
Miller died at the scene of the car accident while wearing her wedding dress. The accident left Hutchinson with a brain injury and two others injured.
