‘Jamika and Her Giant Peach’: Dave Landau’s roast of Jennifer Newsom will keep you laughing

Old Video of Jennifer Siebel Newsom Goes Viral

A vintage clip featuring Jennifer Siebel Newsom, California Governor Gavin Newsom’s wife, has made a comeback and is gaining popularity online.

In this footage, Jennifer offers some parenting advice aimed at fostering inclusivity for children. This caught the attention of hosts Stu Bruguiere and Dave Landau, who, after viewing it, suggested that she might be “even worse” than her husband, whom they refer to as extreme.

During the episode of “Stu and Dave Do America,” the pair amusingly discuss “California’s First Partners,” a term coined by Newsom to provide a gender-inclusive title.

In the resurfaced video, Jennifer discusses her parenting choices: “I gave my sons dolls—yes, even the ones that had their heads torn off… I wanted them to understand that caring is not exclusively a woman’s job; men can be nurturing too.” She further elaborates, explaining how she alters gender pronouns in stories she reads to her kids, asserting, “…I aim to show that women can take center stage in tales, that they’re vital and interesting.”

She also expresses optimism about dismantling traditional gender roles in society. However, Stu critiques her viewpoint, labeling her approach as “the quintessential feminist leftist’s crazy project.”

Dave’s take is even harsher. He questions how one can succeed academically if they’re changing narratives in literature arbitrarily, pondering over what a book report on “Jamika and Her Giant Peach” would look like if altered.

His commentary shifts to a more personal tone, humorously reflecting, “I don’t believe being gay is a choice, but she made it feel like it was something my parents decided,” before chuckling at the absurdity of the discussion.

Stu highlights the flawed logic in Newsom’s parenting methods: “You’re not just playing gender games; you’re misleading your kids about the stories being read to them.” He draws a comparison between Jennifer and other popular athlete wives he met in high school, implying that she seems to be serving a particular role rather than being herself.

Dave adds a jab, suggesting that despite the attempts to appear humorous and relatable, one can imagine her having a sign in her kitchen reading, “It’s Wine Time,” hinting at her possible escapism with wine or medication.
