Jana Kramer Embraces Faith in New Film
Jana Kramer, known for her role in One Tree Hill and a string of romantic comedies, is set to star in a new film, Karen Kingsbury’s “Christmas Ring.” Released on November 6, the story centers on a military widow on a quest for a lost family heirloom from World War II, during which she unexpectedly finds love.
Kramer takes on the lead role, joined by actors like Jesse James Decker, Benjamin Hollingsworth, and Kelsey Grammer. The film’s themes revolve around faith, which Kramer says has been vital in helping her navigate tough times, including her divorce and moments of feeling isolated. In fact, she once shared a photo of her baptism on social media, emphasizing how important her faith journey has been.
“It got me through some of my toughest days, especially during my divorce. I realized that I wasn’t truly alone,” she told Crosswalk Headlines. “I didn’t grow up with that kind of thinking, so it’s a big deal for me to pass my beliefs on to my kids.”
“My daughter has been afraid of the dark lately, seeking comfort in God and prayer. I wish she had learned to do that sooner,” Kramer reflected. “Turning 40 made me see that I don’t have to face things alone.”
In a previous social media post, Kramer opened up about how her difficult past affected her ability to trust, particularly in relation to her father. She has been candid about facing domestic violence in her first marriage.
“I never believed he would stick around or treat me well,” she recalled. “For years, I distanced myself from God. Then, in moments of solitude and pain last year, I discovered He was there all along, waiting for me to reach out.”
Kramer has found a new family in her local church.
“I’m still learning and getting answers, but knowing I’m teaching my kids about faith pushes me further,” she noted. “They know they’re not alone, that God is always with them.”
Christmas Ring is based on Kingsbury’s novel of the same name, and Kramer believes it stands out from typical holiday films. It portrays conflicts usually absent in romantic comedies, reminding viewers that hope always exists.
“What I love about this movie is it captures the classic elements of a good Christmas film. Kingsbury, with her remarkable writing, weaves in themes of conflict and love that truly resonate with the holiday spirit,” she expressed, showing her excitement about being part of the project.
The film promises a unique angle on love and faith during the holiday season, showcasing not just the romance but the deeper themes of resilience and hope.
