Jane Fonda Campaigns for Kamala Harris on Goal of Slashing Fossil Fuels by Half

Hollywood star Jane Fonda is campaigning for Kamala Harris, believing the Harris-Waltz pair can halve fossil fuel use and address what she calls the “climate emergency”.

Jane Fonda appeared on CBS News on Monday to tout her climate change activism and also boast about her role as a Democratic political influencer.

“I'm really involved at this time because of the climate emergency,” Fonda says. said CBS News.

According to the media report, she believes Kamala Harris will make progress on achieving ambitious goals such as halving fossil fuel emissions by the end of the decade.

Fonda also believes that former President Donald Trump's victory would lead the country in the wrong direction by increasing our reliance on fossil fuels. “We cannot allow this to happen in the United States at a time when the future of our planet is at stake,” she said.

Fonda's message comes as Kamala Harris is trying to win over white working-class voters, particularly in Pennsylvania, where the fossil fuel industry is a major employer and where Trump and Harris are currently neck and neck in the battleground state, with Trump holding a slight lead in some polls.

As a result, her messaging on fossil fuels has been confusing and contradictory.

Kamala Harris has said throughout her political career that she wants to ban fracking, but in recent weeks she has insisted that she doesn't, even lying during the recent ABC News presidential debate that she has never called for a ban on fracking, when in fact she has.

Fonda has promoted climate change activism through her own political action committee, which was established to promote lower-ranking candidates and their efforts.

Her PAC is backing 100 candidates in multiple states, including battleground states like Pennsylvania, Michigan and Arizona, according to CBS News.

In an interview, Jane Fonda defended the role of left-wing celebrity influencers like herself.

“They pick up a weak signal from the valley and broadcast it to get a bigger audience,” she said. “That's what celebrities like me do.”
