Jane Fonda Protests US Military Action Against Iran

On Saturday, Jane Fonda stepped outside her luxurious Los Angeles residence, valued at $6 million, to voice her dissent over the US military’s recent actions in Iran.

The 88-year-old actress, known for her activism, left her home to join a protest outside City Hall, surrounded by passionate demonstrators.

During her speech to the crowd in downtown Los Angeles, Fonda criticized the current administration’s military operations. “We are now witnessing the horrors of an unnecessary war of choice initiated by the Trump administration. This has already resulted in the tragic loss of young lives due to bombings targeting schools in Iraq and civilians in Iran,” she stated.

She noted a disturbing parallel to the Vietnam War, expressing how current events evoke those memories when American troops were deployed overseas.

“Right now, parents are pulling their children out of the rubble,” she pointed out. “This dangerous and senseless war against Iran not only breaches international law and the War Powers Act but also threatens to escalate into a significant conflict, endangering many lives, including those of US military members.”

Fonda, a long-time advocate for peace, stressed that the consequences of war extend beyond political implications, directly affecting innocent lives. She expressed concern for what she labeled as “profit over people,” arguing that the benefits of war often favor defense contractors and oil companies, while ordinary families bear the burden.

As Fonda delivered her remarks, nearby, members of the Iranian-American community were celebrating the assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Hundreds took to the streets in Los Angeles, which has a significant Iranian population, to rejoice over the recent US and Israeli airstrike.

Among the celebrants, Shervin Khorramian, a 55-year-old from Los Angeles, shared his mixed emotions: “I want to cry. I want to scream. I want to dance. I want to laugh. But most of all, I just want to celebrate,” he said, waving an Iranian flag outside the Wilshire Federal Building.

The atmosphere was one of jubilation as demonstrators waved various flags and held signs expressing gratitude towards President Trump. Khorramian added, “For the first time in a long time, I feel hopeful that this might mark a turning point for Iran.”
