At 75, Jane Seymour is embracing life rather than battling against it. The actress, known for her roles in Bond films and Dr. Quinn, holds a refreshing perspective on aging, expressing gratitude for each day.

In a recent interview, she shared that her mindset shifted dramatically in her 40s after experiencing a near-death moment involving anaphylactic shock. “I remember looking at myself from above and thinking, ‘This is your car. I’m responsible for taking care of it,'” she recalled.

She also outlined four crucial habits that keep her vibrant in her 70s.

1. Foster a Positive Attitude

For Seymour, maintaining a positive outlook is as vital as physical health. She approaches each day with optimism, which she describes as “getting up and not giving up.” Recently, she remarked that it’s unnecessary to dwell on the youth lost over time; instead, she chooses to appreciate the present moment.

“Sure, you might be 70 now, but a whole new world is opening up to you,” she pointed out, reflecting on the wisdom gained with age.

2. Understand Your Body

Seymour’s fitness philosophy centers on consistency rather than intense workouts. She aims to exercise at least three times a week while avoiding injury. “I listen to my body. I won’t overdo it,” she noted.

Her regimen includes strengthening exercises focusing on core, arms, and legs, often using a Pilates Reformer but staying flexible with her approach. When traveling, she adapts with bodyweight exercises, sometimes utilizing kitchen counters for incline push-ups. “I’m not going to pretend I’m 20 when I’m 70,” she states. “I want to be in the best shape I can be at my age.”

3. Nourish Your Body

Seymour regards her appearance as a professional asset, not something to battle against. “I’m not chasing wrinkles,” she insists. Instead, she sees her natural signs of aging as part of her artistic toolbox.

She emphasizes strict skincare and balanced nutrition, making it a point to consume plenty of fruits and vegetables. When fresh options are limited, she supplements with antioxidant blends, which she believes contribute to better overall mental and physical well-being.

4. Nourish Your Soul

Perhaps the most significant aspect of Seymour’s approach to longevity is her sense of purpose. Inspired by her mother, a World War II concentration camp survivor, she believes that longevity often correlates with how much one contributes to the world.

She recalls her mother’s wisdom, emphasizing helping others as a means of finding personal fulfillment. This principle led Seymour to establish the Open Hearts Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering others via grants and volunteer work. “That’s the best way to end the day, knowing it wasn’t in vain,” she concluded.
