Singer Janelle Monae and actress Hannah Einbinder went to President Donald Trump in a speech at the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) dinner in Los Angeles over the weekend.
Accepting the HRC's Equality Award, Monae challenged the audience to stand up to the bullies, hinting that the bully was elected president in the form of Donald Trump.
“Bullies only win when they make them think they can,” says Monae. I said. “There's the truth here. Bullying doesn't stop growing. It doesn't end when you leave school. It gets bigger.
Monae then said she will continue to stand with immigrants, transgender people and other communities she feels targeted in the current political situation.
“Let's make that clear. We're going to challenge the giants,” she concluded.
Actress Hannah Einbinder (HBO's) hack) received the HRC Visibility Award for her work on LGBTQ representatives and denounced the United States for Israeli support.
“My oddity is, like my Judaism, a tradition of social justice,” Einbinder said. “To me, these are human traditions, human life, and the traditions of caring for all humans. Likewise, as a strange person, as a Jew, and as an American, I am terrified of the Israeli government's massacre of more than 65,000 Palestinians in Gaza.
Einbinder then denounced President Trump for taxing Mahmoud Khalil's PHT extension.
