In January, January Jones and her son, Xander Dane, shared a special Mother-son Day.
The 47-year-old actress made a rare appearance on the red carpet with her 13-year-old son at the 18th Sea Change Summer Party held in Laguna Beach, California, recently.
The duo both wore black dresses, paired with sandals and headbands, striking a pose for the camera.
Xander, appearing almost as tall as his famous mom, wore a striped linen shirt, white pants, and black Adidas sneakers.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate Oceana’s 23rd birthday and join @oceanaseachange last night!” Jones shared, posting close-ups of herself and Xander while playfully covering his face with a light blue heart emoji.
Typically, Jones keeps her son’s life private; she had taken Xander to the same event in 2021 when he was just 10.
The identity of Xander’s father remains undisclosed, and Jones has previously expressed that it’s “my son’s business” to keep it private.
Although generally guarded about Xander’s life, Jones occasionally shares moments from it, particularly on birthdays.
On September 13, 2024, she posted a sunset story for Xander’s birthday, captioning it “Bday Boy is a Teen.”
A year ago, she celebrated another milestone with an Instagram video of Xander dancing at Nobu Malibu.
“Happy birthday to my child. I’m proud to be yours,” she had written. “I couldn’t love you any more.”
Even while maintaining her son’s privacy, Jones once joked about how she draws fashion inspiration from teenage boys.
“My midlife crisis unexpectedly led me to say, ‘take all your fashion cues from teenage boys,’ but here we are,” she quipped on social media back in 2023.
Wearing an oversized shirt over a black dress, Jones mimicked a pose her son often does, noting, “I did it to poke fun at him, and it turns out he was right; it actually makes you look cooler.”
Reflecting on her motherhood journey, Jones shared in 2017 that during Xander’s birth, only women were present, seeking that “female energy.” Yet, she admitted it was a bit daunting as her body went through so much.
Now, she humorously suggested there’s perhaps “too much” feminine energy surrounding her son.
On the topic of parenting, Jones stated, “It’s beneficial for him to have strong women around to teach respect for women. There’s no man in his life telling him, ‘Don’t cry’ or reinforcing outdated stereotypes.”
Her male friends also enjoy spending time with Xander, acknowledging he’s a delightful kid.
“I love making soup on soccer Sundays,” she shared, appreciating time spent with her neighbors and kids.
Regarding her routine, Jones described it as very structured, saying, “It’s just me and the nanny. No one lives with us. I work, come home, and put Xander to bed before indulging in a couple of hours of reality TV.”
During the conversation, Jones noted she wasn’t actively pursuing romantic relationships.
“People often try to set me up, but I’m not interested,” she remarked. “Sure, it’s fine to socialize, but I’m not looking for love right now.”
She acknowledged having high standards, which might require compromise, yet emphasized her life feels quite complete. “After having Xander, I went on a few dates, but honestly, I’d rather stay home, watch TV, or hang out with him,” she concluded.
