In the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) appeared on her radio show, “The Breakfast Club,” attempting to clarify her stance on the connection between incendiary rhetoric from the Democratic Party and political violence.
“I disagree with your views, and I might call you a ‘wannabe Hitler,’ but that doesn’t mean I’m advocating violence,” Crockett stated.
She further asserted, “I’ve never said anything to incite violence,” challenging anyone to find videos of Democrats encouraging such actions.
In response, Republicans compiled a video featuring various statements from Democrats that could be seen as encouraging or justifying political violence. This video was released shortly after Crockett announced her run for the U.S. Senate and included 20 notable remarks.
- In September 2024, former Biden Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo, told Mika Brzezinski, “Let’s eliminate him forever,” referring to President Trump, later clarifying that she meant voting him out.
- In June 2018, California Rep. Maxine Waters advised crowds to confront Trump officials in public and make them feel unwelcome.
- In January, House Majority Leader Hakeem Jeffries indicated that Democrats would fight both “in the courts and in the streets” in opposition to Trump.
- California Congressman Eric Swalwell mentioned on CNN that “when the ground gets lower, we’re going to bury it under the Capitol.”
- Soon-to-be US Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed remarked about Trump’s followers, saying, “When they’re down, we don’t rise high. We take them into the mud and suffocate them.”
- Rep. Ayanna Pressley once suggested that “as long as there is fear in our lives, we need fear in the streets.”
- California Governor Gavin Newsom stated on a podcast that they were “fighting fire with fire” and would “punch these sons of bitches in the mouth,” referring to Republicans.
- California Congressman Derek Tran urged Democrats to unite and “kick them when they’re down, because they deserve it.”
The compilation also highlighted some of Crockett’s previous comments. In an interview, she remarked that to win elections, “You punch. I think you’re okay to punch.”
She referenced former Rep. Colin Allred’s defeat to Sen. Ted Cruz, suggesting Democrats needed to be tougher on their adversaries, even stating about Cruz, “You have to hit the head hard.” She has made various controversial remarks and has been criticized for inflammatory comments.
Additionally, a recent report indicated that the National Republican Senatorial Committee is working to encourage Crockett to enter the Texas Senate Democratic primary, viewing her as a vulnerable candidate.
