Jasmine Crockett criticizes Marjorie Taylor Greene for backing out: 'You can't handle the pressure'

Retirement Announcement Stirs Controversy

WASHINGTON — “The bleach-blonde, hunky butch body” is stepping down.

Progressive Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) didn’t hold back as she responded to the retirement news of her rival, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), suggesting that Greene has struggled to handle the criticism aimed her way.

When asked on CNN’s “State of the Union” about Greene’s surprising announcement, Crockett reacted with disbelief: “Honestly, I thought it was a joke.”

“You’ve been opposing the president for a week now, and the pressure must be immense. Just think about what it’s like in my position, not only facing the president but also having someone like her continuously stirring up hatred,” Crockett remarked.

Greene surprised many in Washington on Friday with her retirement announcement, effective January 5, 2026, just after her five-year window to qualify for a parliamentary pension when she turns 62 expires.

This unexpected decision follows a week after President Trump pulled his support for Greene and suggested a primary challenge against her.

In recent weeks, Greene openly criticized Trump’s policies, questioned his commitment to the “America First” agenda, supported calls for the release of Justice Department files related to the late Jeffrey Epstein, and expressed discontent with Republicans’ health care policy.

After Trump publicly lambasted her, Greene voiced concerns about facing death threats, reflecting on some past political outbursts she now regrets.

“Imagine what it’s like dealing with threats when you’re in my position,” Crockett fired back on CNN.

Greene’s retirement could potentially impact Republicans’ narrow majority in the House.

“This really highlights how Greene has sparked a lot of the animosity seen within the MAGA movement. I’m not sure she fully comprehended the harm her words caused to others,” Crockett added.

Both Crockett and Greene are known for their fiery rhetoric, especially during contentious committee hearings. For instance, during a House Oversight Committee meeting about holding then-Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt, Crockett infamously labeled Greene as a “bleached blond, misshapen body.”

Greene, in turn, criticized Crockett’s appearance, saying, “Your false eyelashes are ruining what you’re reading.”

After Greene’s announcement, Crockett suggested the two might consider collaborating on a “safety bill” for members of Congress facing threats.

Greene’s office has been contacted for commentary on this matter.

In a separate CNN interview, Crockett mentioned she’s planning to decide by Thanksgiving whether to pursue the Texas Senate seat currently held by Republican Sen. John Cornyn.

“I’m still contemplating it,” she said. “The results are in, so we’re figuring out the next steps to see if it’s feasible.”

“We aim to finalize our decision by Thanksgiving. Honestly, the reason for my continued consideration is the polling indicating I could win. That’s the crux of it,” she concluded.
