Rep. Jasmine Crockett Addresses Political Violence Following Charlie Kirk’s Death
Rep. Jasmine Crockett from Texas has dismissed claims that far-left rhetoric contributed to the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, defending the use of terms like “Wannabe Hitler” in reference to President Donald Trump.
The killing of Kirk has ignited discussions across the nation regarding political violence. The argument is that labeling opponents as “fascists” or “Hitler” can incite unstable individuals to commit acts of violence. Notably, a bullet casing found at the scene bore an anti-fascist message.
Since the attempted assassination in July 2024, Republicans have accused the media and Democratic figures of inciting violence through repeated comparisons to Nazi leaders.
During her appearance on the “Breakfast Club,” Crockett asserted that it is, in fact, Trump who has nurtured a climate of political violence. While she condemned all forms of violence, she also suggested Republicans should take responsibility, indicating that the perpetrator had ties to their side of the political spectrum.
“Let’s call it what it is,” she emphasized. “Even if it comes from someone on our side of the aisle, we must address that.” Her comments targeted Trump directly.
Crockett went on to articulate the impact of heated political discourse: “When you are campaigning for office and advocating for violence, that’s a dangerous message.” She pointed out that rhetoric urging physical confrontation crosses a line, contrasting it with her own use of provocative language.

“We really need to have candid discussions about this,” Crockett stated, expressing her viewpoint that violent language from political figures fosters a “culture of violence.” In a broader context, she mentioned that many mass shootings are tied to “white hegemony ideology,” implying that systemic issues need to be addressed.
When approached for comments, White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson requested clarification on Crockett’s statements, interpreting them as potentially justifying political violence. She urged Crockett to clarify her position, arguing that her remarks could further deepen divisions and radicalize leftist sentiments.
