Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a Democrat from Texas, expressed that she had no worries regarding former President Joe Biden’s mental acuity during his presidency.
In a private session with former White House doctor Kevin O’Connor, she conveyed her thoughts to House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky.
Afterward, she spoke with reporters, attributing Biden’s verbal slips to his stutter and raising doubts about Donald Trump’s mental faculties.
“No, I had nothing,” Crockett said in response to whether she had concerns about Biden’s mental fitness when he was in office.
While she noted that Biden was not the typical 80-year-old, Crockett remarked, “I had the opportunity to interact with the president. I was never worried.”
“Now, what is Joe Biden, 80 years old? So, he’s a little different from the 80-year-old version of Joe Biden in his 20s, and I think it’s the same,” she elaborated.
Crockett acknowledged that Biden might occasionally mix up words, but she emphasized that this wasn’t a new occurrence, attributing it to his long-standing stutter rather than aging. “I know this is someone born with stuttering issues he had to overcome,” she added.
She mentioned that although some of the strategies Biden learned to manage his stutter might have become less effective over time, his mental sharpness remained intact.
“Sure, he might mix up a few words, but if you talk to him about foreign policy, one of my clearest memories is how he grasped complex discussions, displaying a complete understanding of the issues,” Crockett noted.
She described Biden as being united with adversaries, which she insisted should concern Americans due to potential dangers involved.
Crockett caught reporters off guard when she appeared on Capitol Hill for O’Connor’s deposition. She had remained silent prior to this, and afterward, she faced accusations from Comer of mischaracterizing O’Connor’s Fifth Amendment claims.
She stated, “This is why it was crucial for Democrats to be present, as some seem eager to manipulate stories to fit their narratives.”
Comer criticized O’Connor’s actions, noting that his committee was looking into claims regarding a cover-up of Biden’s mental health decline by his former aides.
The White House was contacted by Fox News Digital for a response.
