Jason Day offers career-best performance at Arnold Palmer Invitational in second round

Earlier this week, Jason Day made the headline when Malbon said he had a “bold” plan for what he would wear at Augusta National. Time tells you what it all has.

Perhaps it fired him. He turned an exceptional round at Bay Hill on Friday, shooting an 8-under 64. It marked his best round at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. PGA Tour Communication Team.

It's also the lowest score of a day since he fired an 8-under 64 at the La Quinta Country Club since the opening round of the American Express in mid-January. He finished third in Coachella Valley that week.

There is no attack on La Quinta, but Bayhill is exponentially more challenging, but of course, Day was quite humble about it. He noted that the weather was a bit of a factor. Thursday morning was tough for the early Tea Times people.

He repeated the day after his round on Friday:

good. We had a tough day [on Thursday]. I think those who are teeing off in our morning waves probably have the brunt of the wind. That's golf. Obviously, you make bad things bad. It's all averaged. However, it's nice to be able to come out and come in early, so I'm not really thinking about the cut line. No one wants to come here and miss a cut. That's exactly what we're all trying to give ourselves like a good buffer after the Eagle of 6. So I couldn't think about the cut line anymore and started to focus on playing really good shots. It just pushed momentum forward, but it was good, and yes, I wasn't thinking too much. A very positive day, that's a good thing. I did a lot of work on my putting last week, I struggled with it this year, some setup changes [coach Cole Swatton]he just got on board and that was good. There are some old-fashioned feel. Things seem really good right now.

Day will change his best performance of the season so far, and will fall asleep sitting in the top five on Friday nights. He jumped 40 spots on the leaderboard and then fought for the title of the signature event after missing a cut.

Players can secure a victory before ever boosting his season and offering an influx of FedEx Cup points.
