Jason Day’s Bold Fashion Choices at the US Open
Australian golfer Jason Day has made headlines with his striking outfits at the US Open, showcasing an American-inspired look this time around.
Previously with Nike, Day’s wardrobe has seen a significant change after parting ways with Malbon Golf. His recent styles have certainly turned heads, especially during the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship. Some commentators even speculated that Augusta National Golf Club had asked him to reconsider his vibrant attire.
That said, Day is known for taking fashion risks on the course. Just before the US Open, he showcased some tailored shorts during practice rounds. One standout outfit included a navy Malbon polo, complemented by shorts emblazoned with the American flag, featuring bold red and white stripes along with unique designs on the sleeves.
Claire Rogers from Golf.com noted after seeing Day’s ensemble, “From Jason Day, that’s good.” This hints at the blend of style and national pride he brought to the event.
Yet, the celebration of American spirit didn’t stop there. Day also wore a white Malbon pullover, marked by a star on the collar and matching flag designs on his sleeves—definitely a statement look.
While he may have been the most stylish person at Oakmont Country Club, Day is currently facing a challenging course layout, known for its difficulty. Oakmont’s rough terrain has been receiving attention this week; it’s notorious for testing players’ precision, more so than usual. Whether hitting from the fairway or navigating close to the greens, accuracy is key.
During practice, players struggled with the greens as well, with many short putts veering past the hole due to tricky angles.
Though Day hasn’t clinched a tournament win this year, he has finished in the top ten three times, including memorable performances in past major events. His closest attempts to secure another major title came during the 2023 Open Championship, where he tied for second. His best US Open finishes were as runner-up in 2011 and 2013.
