Mavericks Coach Jason Kidd Ejected in Loss to Bulls

Jason Kidd, the head coach of the Mavericks, was ejected early in the first quarter during Saturday’s game against the Bulls in Chicago. This incident occurred after a heated exchange with referee Scott Foster.

Kidd was sent off with 5:44 remaining in the Mavericks’ 125-107 defeat at the United Center.

The situation escalated when Kidd and the Mavericks protested a goaltending decision involving forward Max Christie.

After the game, a report from the league provided insights into Kidd’s ejection, with Foster commenting on the circumstances leading to it.

Foster confirmed that Kidd had tried to contest the goaltending call, stating, “Yeah,” when asked if the Mavericks were challenging it. He also explained that once the ball was handed over for a throw-in, the window for replay challenges closed.

Kidd sought to contest the call, but the officials determined that the Mavericks’ timeout was called too late, as the ball was already in play.

Despite this, a timeout was still granted.

According to Foster, Kidd “used profane language towards officials on two separate occasions” and received technical fouls for each instance.

This ejection marks one of the earliest managerial dismissals of the season.

Following Kidd’s exit, associate head coach Frank Vogel took over the coaching duties for the remainder of the game.

With this loss, the Mavericks fell to 14-25 overall, adding to the team’s current struggles amid injuries and inconsistencies.

Moreover, the Mavericks were contending with the absence of Anthony Davis, who is out due to a torn ligament in his left hand.
