New York Giants quarterback Jackson Dart stirred up social media recently as fans tried to decipher comments he made on the sidelines during the Fiesta Bowl on Thursday night, which saw his former team, Ole Miss, face off against Miami.
There are currently eight NFL teams in search of new head coaches, and the Giants are among them, having parted ways with Brian Daboll midway through the season after yet another playoff miss. Since the firing, a number of prominent candidates have emerged, and it seems Dart may have dropped a hint about who the Giants might be considering.
While Dart was seen conversing during the game, viewers attempted to lip-read his words. Some speculated he mentioned “Harbaugh or Stefanski,” pointing to John Harbaugh, formerly of the Baltimore Ravens, and Kevin Stefanski, who was let go as the Cleveland Browns’ head coach.
What exactly Dart said remains unknown, but both coaches are now regarded as top free agent prospects in the NFL.
After an impressive 18-season run with multiple championships, Harbaugh’s firing sent shockwaves through the league, garnering interest from various teams—even some that still have coaches in place. While the Giants haven’t formally interviewed him yet, many think it’s only a matter of time.
The Giants have already held interviews with Stefanski, Vance Joseph, Raheem Morris, and Antonio Pierce.
