Jackson Dart’s Observations Ignite Speculation
Jackson Dart is sharing hope just like many fans around Big Blue Nation.
After Ole Miss’s close 31-27 loss to Miami in the College Football Playoff semifinals, a video surfaced where Dart, caught on camera, appeared to discuss the team’s coaching search with staff members on the sidelines.
Social media users seem to have dissected his lip movements extensively, focusing on Dart providing what looked like a meaningful update. People think he might have said something along the lines of, “Harbaugh or something… Stefanski— but I don’t really get it,” according to one lip-reading analysis.
It’s tough to say if that’s exactly what he meant. I mean, you’re trying to guess from just reading lips, right?
However, one notable moment was when Dart clearly enunciated “Stefanski,” which stands out with its three syllables.
What’s clearer is that both Stefanski and Harbaugh are serious contenders for the role vacated after the Giants let go of Brian Daboll, following a rough start and an even rougher finish to the season.
The Giants are planning to pursue Harbaugh after his surprising release from the Ravens, who have struggled for three seasons.
As of the latest news, no interviews have been arranged yet, and sources indicate they might not kick off until next week.
In the meantime, Stefanski, a coach of the year previously who was also dismissed by the Browns, met the team for discussions earlier this week after dining together and visiting the facilities.
Interestingly, the odds for their next head coach show that there’s over a 90 percent likelihood the Giants will end up hiring either Harbaugh or Stefanski, though other candidates are also in play.
Among these options are former Falcons head coach Raheem Morris, Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, and ex-Cowboys and Packers coach Mike McCarthy.
Joe Schoen, the general manager, has mentioned the team will “cast a wide net” in their search, and there seems to be some excitement among fans for these two candidates.
The Giants will likely need to outmaneuver other teams interested in either candidate.
With Mike McDaniel’s departure from the Dolphins, Harbaugh is expected to be a significant player in the mix partly due to his close ties with the owner’s family.
The Giants showcase a troubling record of 44-104-1 since 2017, translating to a winning percentage of just 29.9 percent— the second worst in the NFL during that period, ahead of only the Jets.
Dart’s presence could offer a glimmer of hope that might attract potential coaches to East Rutherford.
Bringing in a coach like Harbaugh or Stefanski, both known for their success, could energize the franchise. However, it’s likely that such hiring could come at a steep financial cost.
Both candidates are expected to demand significant salaries.
