Giants’ Jackson Dart Experiences Ups and Downs in Loss to Bears
Jackson Dart, the rookie quarterback for the New York Giants, had a mixed performance in a 24-20 loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
Dart completed 19 of 29 passes for 242 yards, adding 66 rushing yards and two touchdowns. However, his game took a concerning turn in the third quarter when he fumbled and hit his head on the ground, leading to a concussion that forced him to leave the match.
Despite the loss, the former Ole Miss player made a mark in NFL history. He became the only rookie quarterback to rush for a touchdown in five straight games. Additionally, he joined Cam Newton as one of the few rookies to start their first seven games and score at least seven rushing touchdowns.
Moreover, Dart is now among the select group of rookie quarterbacks who have rushed for 50 yards or more in at least five games.
The timeline for his return remains uncertain as he needs to pass a thorough concussion evaluation before getting back on the field. Earlier in the season, he was already seen in the blue tent during a game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Head coach Brian Daboll faced a fine for entering the blue tent to observe Dart. He commented, “As he was getting back on the field, it just seemed off, so I called the trainer to have him checked out to be safe.”
After Dart’s departure, Russell Wilson stepped in but struggled to inspire confidence in the offense. It’s unclear if Wilson will start in the next matchup, with Jameis Winston also available on the Giants’ roster.
