Jaxson Dart welcomes Giants opportunity after ‘rollercoaster’ Lane Kiffin experience

It’s good that Jaxson Dart’s plans worked out.

The former Ole Miss quarterback gained momentum in Thursday’s 2025 NFL Draft as a potential first-round pick and a potential Giants option — said he’s “always looking forward to” he’s in the position.

“To be honest, this was something I had been expecting from a young age,” Dart, 21, told the post Tuesday, discussing his partnership. Head and shoulders.

“I’ve never seen my future or anything else do differently than what it has, so I’m excited to embark on this next journey and this next stage of life. I have a great corner around me.

That next chapter could be with the giants who hold the No. 3 pick in the draft and need a young quarterback.

“It’s a historic and legendary organization,” Dart said of the possibility of playing for New York Giants head coach Brian Daball. “And all I can say is that I’ll get up the city and win a lot of games and win the Super Bowl.”

Dart is on the team’s radar up until Thursday’s draft.

In some ratings he’s off the draft board before Chedure Sanders, a Colorado product that was once considered a possible top three pick.

Dirt emphasized his gratitude for developing three seasons under Mississippi State head coach Lane Kiffin as a starter from 2022-24. There, he led the Rebels into three bowl games, competing for the college football playoffs in the final season.

“Being able to grow in college was a big thing for me because I felt like I was in the best place I could have helped me take this next step,” he said.

Dart was forced to smile when asked about his relationship with Kiffin, which he described as “a truly good friendship.”

“It’s unique. For me, I think I was able to have a special relationship with him, and I’ll go far beyond the time I played for him there,” Dart said. “To be honest, it turned into a really, really good friendship. Throughout this whole process (sometimes), I just went back to Oxford to hang out and play pickleballs, be around the facility and talk about random things with him.

“My experience with Coach Kiff was like a roller coaster. I was so grateful and fortunate to have played for him, from the first time I left with them.

Now, Dart is ready for the opportunity to bring his talent to the NFL, embracing adversity.

“There’s a lot to learn and embrace about adversity and stuff, but I’m really excited to learn all the little details in the game and become a great leader competitor and player every time I get on the field,” he said.

As DART rose in the draft assessment, he is linked to the giants amid rumors and speculation.

On Wednesday night, the son of Giants general manager Joe Shane posted a dirt highlight reel on Instagram, setting his account private. Multiple reports.

Many fans have potentially hinted at it on the third pick or by trading back in the first round as a hint that the Giants could draft the darts.

The Giants held a DART and private training before his Ole Miss Pro Day.

The Giants need a future quarterback after signing a short-term deal with veterans Russell Wilson and Jamaice Winston, but that’s when they’ll deal with it.

They could consider strengthening other positions with the No. 3 pick or taking another quarterback, such as Sanders, the most polarized outlook in the draft.

Giants fans are excited about the potential future of Darts, and he already has New York bonds for the Yankees fandom.

“You can show me pictures when I was a little kid,” Dirt said of his trip to the Bronx to see his favorite baseball team.

“My dog’s name is also the Bronx,” he added with a smile.

“I really care about my hair. It’s something I’ve been using for a while and I think I’m lucky to have the opportunity to work with them,” Dart said.

The quarterback was in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He spoke to the post earlier this week and headed to the draft site.

Rather than being on a draft site, Dart chose to celebrate with his family at his home in Utah.

“It’s a big part for me being able to go home and be with my family,” he said. “There are only limited tickets for the Green Room, and I feel there are a lot of people in my corner who have helped me with this process from little kids.

“I wasn’t really looking at it as if it were me. I just wanted to celebrate this moment and be with my loved ones and the many people who were in my corner along the way.”

Dirt added that his former Ole Miss teammates and some of his coaches are there to celebrate with him, but only after he meets Pilates classes on a busy schedule.

“I have a few teammates trying to come to town for that. “The day is a bit full. My mother made sure we’ll have Pilates classes in the morning. Then I’ll play a little golf and enjoy the day.”

The 2025 NFL Draft begins at 8pm ET on Thursday night, followed by the second and third rounds on Friday and fourth rounds on Saturday.

Extravaganza will air on ABC, ESPN and NFL networks.
