Jay-Z to Headline Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show
Jay-Z is set to take the stage during the halftime show of Super Bowl LXI. This exciting news was revealed by Apple Music during the halftime of the recent Dallas Cowboys versus Philadelphia Eagles game.
The big event is scheduled for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
Apple Music made this announcement with a playful message on social media, saying, “GOAT’s out of the bag,” and tagged Jay-Z.
This comes after speculation about Jay-Z being a frontrunner for the performance, with various sources indicating that he was chosen over artists like Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber. TMZ also noted that Harry Styles was among the top contenders.
Jay-Z’s Connection to the Super Bowl
Since 2019, Jay-Z and his company, Roc Nation, have played a role in producing and selecting performers for the Super Bowl halftime show.
Interestingly, the rapper is quite familiar with SoFi Stadium, having recently wrapped up his Jay-Z 30 Tour there on October 23 and 24. This tour celebrated the 30th anniversary of his debut album “Reasonable Doubt” from 1996—a milestone that I think is quite impressive.
According to reports, three consecutive shows at Yankee Stadium in July generated over $42 million, which is just mind-boggling when you think about it.
With an impressive record, Jay-Z has won 25 Grammy Awards and was notably the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. However, he last released an album, “4:44,” back in 2017.
Now, while it’s worth mentioning that Jay-Z has never played at the Super Bowl before, his wife, Beyoncé, performed during the halftime show in 2013 and returned to the Super Bowl stage in 2016 alongside Coldplay and Bruno Mars.
