Packer’s Wide Receiver Faces Major Surgery

Green Bay has hit a bit of a rough patch in its wide receiver lineup.

Receiver Jayden Reid underwent surgery on Tuesday. This was to fix his broken collarbone along with a lingering Jones fracture, as reported by an NFL insider. Reid expressed his gratitude for the successful procedure via social media later that evening.

The need for double surgery addressed both existing and new injuries that had been troubling Reid. The 25-year-old had previously dealt with issues related to his foot throughout training camp before he sustained the collarbone injury during his first quarter in a recent game against the Washington Commanders.

Coach Matt LaFleur spoke after the game, acknowledging the severity of Reid’s injury. He mentioned, “He’s going to miss a lot of time. I really hope he can recover quickly and make it back this season, but it’s certainly a tough blow for us.”

Interestingly, Reid had a similar shoulder dislocation last season, but he didn’t need surgery then. He initially got injured while catching a 39-yard touchdown pass, though a holding penalty wiped it off the board.

Reid had been a key player for Green Bay, leading in receptions and yards in recent seasons. In their week-one victory against the Detroit Lions, he managed three catches, which is notable considering his current circumstances.

Despite being sidelined for a while, Reid remains optimistic about the Packers’ chances of performing well this season. He stated, “We’ve got what it takes to compete for the championship.”

Coming up, Green Bay will face off against the Cleveland Browns this Sunday at 1 PM.
